The Byham theater is an entertainment building located on 101 sixth street. The theater is located in the central district of downtown Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, United States. The 1300 seat theater is owned and managed by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust who bought it in 1991.
The theater was built in 1903 and was opened a year later. It was initially known as The Gayety Theater but was later renamed The Fulton Theater in 1930. Upon purchasing it in 1988, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust renovated it and renamed it The Byham Theater.
The cultural trust has transformed the theater into the undisputed entertainment headquarters that aaccommodate countless performing arts, such as family friendly events, film, theater, music and dance throughout the year. Anything from kid’s show to musical is available in the Byham.
The theater is smaller than most theaters in the Pittsburgh cultural district. This implies that when one is on the floor, each seat feels very close to the stage. The seats are comfortable while the lighting and acoustic is world class.

The theater has ample parking lot that one can rent at a competitive price. Those who are unable to get a space on the Byham’s parking lot can rent space in nearby spaces. It is highly recommended that visitors rent parking spaces in advance to avoid inconveniences. Most spaces can be ordered online.

One can go online to compare rates of diffrent hotels, restaurants and motels in the area. The hotels allow one to order online with most offering free parking to their customers.
Visitors should familiarize themselves with the set rules and regulations that has to be adhered to when in the theater. The new bag policy is the only unique that governs all Pittsburgh Cultural trust venues and events. Under this policy, visitors are not allowed to carry a bag larger than 16” by 16″ by 8″. The trust considers a bag as a purse, duffel bag, tote bag, camera equipment cases, binocular cases, portfolio cases, briefcases, paper sacks, cartons or any other material used for concealing or carrying items. All bags are first searched at the entrance.
Tickets to an event at Byham theater are available online from different dealers. They can also be purchased online from Pittsburgh Cultural Trust’s website. Prices of tickets differ depending on the events. Kids’ tickets are cheaper than those of adults. Most dealers offer discount especially to regular visitors. Byham theater has the most affordable rates in Pittsburgh.
